Board of Trustees

The board of trustees is a Crown entity and is responsible for the governance of our school. We are parents and teachers of students in the school and our primary focus is on the ongoing improvement of student’s progress and achievement, within an environment that provides inclusive education.

We have overall responsibility for the school including legal obligations, proper management of the school finances, reporting to the ministry and school community and setting the school's strategic direction.

As a board, our aim is to provide timely information and updates to the wider school community. We hold monthly meetings which we will announce via the school newsletter, skool loop and the school calendar. We welcome all members of the public to attend our meetings.

If you would like more information a great resource for parents is the Parents’ guide to the role of the Board of Trustees provided by the NZSTA.

Henderson Valley Board of Trustees

Irene Page – Parent Elected Trustee & Board Chair

Hello, I'm Irene and I am currently Chair of the Board. Our daughter Emma is a fourth-gen. valley girl. We feel fortunate to have her attend a phenomenal school in a rural setting with a great outdoor lifestyle. You will often see our family on the walking school bus and biking around the valley, and I'm always happy to stop for a chat. My focus on the Board is on raising the standards of academic achievement and enhancing student wellbeing.

Mark Hellier - Parent Elected Trustee

I’m Mark. My wife and I have 2 children. Reid a Yr 3 student, and Piper who has just started school. I have been inspired by the warm culture and unique opportunities our kids have at HVS. I am an experienced business leader, owner and board member. I have started and grown three successful businesses in the technology sector, two of which have gone on to IPO and international acquisition, and another that continues to serve the large landowners and regional government of New Zealand. My current role is focused on leadership and product design. I am pragmatic in my approach to solution finding and am able to quickly get to the heart of complex challenges. I’m really enjoying helping to ensure the children of our community have the most enriching learning experiences and best educational outcomes that we can give them.

Rebecca Fox - Parent Elected Trustee

Hi there, I am Rebecca Fox, Mum to Ollie who is currently Year 2 at HVS. I am passionate about education, giving all tamariki regardless of their background or abilities equal opportunities to strive and become the best versions of themselves. I am committed to ensuring that HVS is a school where our tamariki are able to thrive in a unique, inclusive and encouraging environment.

Paul Taylor - Parent Elected Trustee

I have lived in the valley for over a decade now with my wife Shannon (who grew up here and attended HVS herself). We have 3 little boys Alex, Ben and Charlie, my two eldest boys attend HVS. I am involved with the PTA and I am delighted to be on the BOT for HVS. My passion is to ensure that a school is a place where kids feel safe, and so they can thrive in the unique rural area we live in. I hope to bring value to the school community with my 25+ years of experience in the corporate world having worked for large companies in NZ and the UK, coupled with a commitment to ensure my boys, and all kids going to HVS, have access to the best possible learning environments is what drives me.

Aynsley Goodison - Parent Elected Trustee

Kia ora my name is Aynsley Goodison. My youngest son is in Year 5 at HVS, with my older two moving on to intermediate and high school. I think we are very lucky to live in such a special part of Auckland and believe the children at our school have the best environment to learn in. How many other schools have goats and bees?
