About Us

We are a semi-rural kura/school nestled between farmland and bush at the foot of the Waitakere Ranges, only 5km from the centre of Henderson.

Henderson Valley School was opened in 1915 and our facilities have grown and modernised over the years to accommodate the learning needs of our ākonga/students, whānau/families and hapori/wider community.

Our kura is set on beautiful grounds and we celebrate our “country school” feeling. We encourage lots of physical activity, providing facilities that are great for students to play, discover, learn... and even climb trees. We have three playgrounds, a tree hut, a shade-covered sandpit, a bike track with 55 school bikes, and an artificial turf. We have a swimming pool and a community hall, these also being available for hire.

Our school logo is Mokoroa, our taniwha. Mokoroa lives in our school grounds and is our kaitiaki/guardian, helping us protect all that we value.
