Kapa Haka at Henderson Valley.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Caspian Tait and Peri Whitefield leading and mentoring a group of Year 5 and 6 ākonga, (Peri is an ex-student of HVS)

The group meets every Thursday afternoon - to learn waiata and to practice our new haka that has been written specifically for our school by Caspian and Peri. The haka talks of our taniwha, Mokoroa.

Pasifika Culture Groups

In the Culture Group, students enjoy learning different dances and songs from the Pacific Islands. Many of the Pacific island dances and songs are designed to celebrate important events in life, such as welcomes, ceremonies and festivals. Modern Polynesian dance tells stories through movement. Most dances allow the audience to focus on the beauty of the dances themselves.

2023 Pasifika Culture Groups are  led by Miss Mariah Smith

This year, the group is made up of a bunch of really enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 students. They practise every Tuesday afternoon and perform at the end of every term in our school hui.
